Shell Tameer awards


KARACHI, May 11: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Jehangir Khan Tareen has urged the youth to actively contribute in the economic growth of the country.

He said that the government would support every initiative that ‘engages the youth in productive endeavours’ providing meaningful livelihood to families.

Addressing the Shell Tameer annual awards ceremony on Thursday at Shell House, he said that the aims of this programme resonated with those of his ministry, in not only providing means of earning livelihood but also learning self reliance, which apply not only to individuals but also to the community and to the country.

Chairman Shell Group of companies, Farooq Rahmatullah also spoke on the occasion.

Certificates were presented to 10 young business persons. The three ‘Tameer’ winners of the year 2006 were awarded with scholarships, says a press release.

Shell Tameer is a social investment project that promotes entrepreneurship among youth, having provided support, awareness and training to 25,000 young people through workshops and seminars.
