IDEAS 2006 from Nov 21

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 11: The fourth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar —IDEAS 2006 — will be held on Nov 21-24 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The first meeting of the steering committee was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of director general, Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO), Maj-Gen Syed Absar Hussain.

“Arms for Peace” is the theme of IDEAS 2006, a display venture of the government. Projection of the latest trends and technology in defence equipment and machinery supplemented with military capabilities and management will be displayed in all six halls of the expo centre.

The steering committee presented its conceptual plan of IDEAS 2006 before the members of the committee, whereby numerous suggestions were presented and many decisions were taken.

This year’s integral feature of the exhibition will be the daily mobility displays, static naval and air display and a joint forces display of equipment in real wartime demonstration. A high-level international seminar on “expanding global security environment” will be an added feature of the event.

There is an encouraging support from countries, including the US, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Sweden, China, the UK, France and Russia. Along with foreign exhibitors there will be a fairly large number of local exhibitors at the show.
