Tea auction
NAIROBI, May 10: Kenyan tea prices were mixed at this week’s auction with Pekoes Fannings Ones suffering due to the absence of their main buyers from Afghanistan and the Pakistan Bazaar, brokers said on Wednesday.
“There was good general demand for the 111,980 packages on offer at irregular rates with the market easing as the sale progressed,” a market report by the Africa Tea Brokers said.
Top and bottom prices for Brighter Best Pekoes Ones (BP1s) were $2.12-$2.51 per kg from last week’s $2.18-$2.64. PF1s sold at $2.19-$2.49 per kg from $2.19-$2.72 at the previous sale.—Reuters
