TOBA TEK SINGH, May 9: A bailiff of Additional District and Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Warraich on Tuesday recovered 38 workers, including 11 women and 10 children, from the illegal detention of a kiln owner.

Bhatta Mazdoor Union central president Rana Azam had filed a petition stating that kiln owner Haji Rashid and his staff, including Usman, Saeed and Bashir, had illegally detained Asma Bibi, Sumaira, Umairan, Iftikhar, Ghaffar, Boota, Bilal, Khalida, Iqbal, Ramzan, Zaitoon Bibi, Danish, Guddoo, Irfan, Zeeshan, Ramzan Bagga, Rabia Bibi, Mushtaq, Khurshid, Imran, Javed, Zulfiqar and 10 infants.

The bailiff produced them in the court and the judge allowed all of them to go to their homes.

Later, petitioner Rana Azam claimed that some men of the kiln owner had tried to kidnap the workers after the court released them, but their attempt was foiled.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Commission activist Tariq Mahmood has demanded implementation of Factory Act on brick kilns.
