Peasant family seeks govt’s help

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, May 9: A number of peasants, Mewan Kumar, Kanji Mal, Essar, Revo and Chanesar, from Mohammed Narejo Village, Deh Kathri, Hussain Bux Mari taluka, observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday in protest against alleged excesses of landlord and the SHO of Dilbar Maher police station.

The protesters told newsmen that they were working as tillers for the landlord but on May 5, he along with his henchmen, attacked and demolished their homes and took away 40 cattle heads including sheep and goats and tried to eject them from the village.

They said that Mewan Kumar was arrested by Dilbar Maher police and kept in wrongful confinement for 10 hours where he was severely tortured.

They urged the Sindh chief minister, provincial police officer, Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh and human rights organisations to take notice of the injustice, and provide them justice by lodging their FIR against the influential landlord and SHO of Dilbar Maher police station.
