Misbah named skipper

LAHORE, May 8: Misbah Siddiqui becomes first-ever captain of Pakistan women’s futsal team which was announced on Monday. The team will take part in the international championship to be held in Amman on Jordan from May 11 to 18.

The team leaves for Jordan on Wednesday.

Shaista Leghari from Sibi was named as the vice-captain.

Other players named in the squad are Sheka Nazeer, Fahmida Habib, Shabana Kausar, Nadia Siraj, Azra Matloob, Farzana Mir, Riffat Mehdi, Maryam Leghari and Robina Kausar.

Armaan Khan will be on stand bye.

Rubina Irfan, the chairperson of the Pakistan Football Federation women wing will act as Chef de Mission. Diana Sharifi will be team manager while Tariq Lutfi and Sadia Sheikh are coach and assistant coach, respectively.

Pakistan will make their international debut in women’s futsal event.

Amman Club will host the event in which besides Pakistan the other participating countries are Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Jordan’s three outfits, Orthodox Club, Amman Club and Shabab Ordon.
