KARACHI, May 8: Pakistan vice captain Younis Khan on Monday said that he wanted to face a fully-fit English side when his team tour England for Test and ODI series later this summer.

Younis, who visited England recently for three days for earthquake fundraiser, said that main players of Ashes-wining side are injured and hoped that the players will get fully fit before Pakistan’s tour commences in June.

“As we all know now, they (England) are going to be without quite a few of their key players for the first Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's this week, with top players like (captain) Michael Vaughan, Simon Jones, Steve Harmison, Ashley Giles and James Anderson all sidelined,” Younis said.

“But I hope that they'll get fit before our tour starts and ready to face us for the first Test at Lord's in July.

“Because we don't want to win the series and hear people say we only won because half of the England team was missing with injury. We want to beat their strongest team,” he added.

Younis further said that when play at the top level, one of the greatest things is the challenge of testing skills against the best and this will be the case in England.

“I want to be facing the attack that gave Australia so many problems,” he said.

Younis said that he will try to further improve his ranking with some good cricket in different conditions in England.

“Currently I am seventh in the ICC batsmen rankings which is a great honour for me. But it would be nice if I manage a great series in England and break into that top five,” he concluded.—PPI
