LAHORE, May 8: Three-times national champions Pakistan Army will take on Tatung of Chinese Taipei in the opening match of second AFC President’s Cup at Malaysia’s Sarawak Stadium (Kuching) on Wednesday.

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has shifted the eight-team event to Malaysia from Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh due to unavoidable circumstances.

The tournament, which is meant for clubs from the emerging countries, will be played from May 10 to 21.

In all 15 matches will be held. Sarawak Stadium will host 13 and Negeri Stadium two matches.

Army, won the national championship in 1993, 1995 and 2005 and placed in Group A with Tatung, Khemara (Cambodia) and Transport United (Bhutan).

The top-two teams of each group advance to the semifinals which will be played on May 17 and 18.

Army has become the 12th Pakistani team to compete in 39-year history of Asian Club Competition.
