KARACHI: SPLA shows distrust in education boards

KARACHI, May 8: The Karachi chapter of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association showing total distrust over the performance of education boards of the province has demanded immediate removal of retired people from their administrative posts.

In a meeting chaired by Prof Ather Hussain, the SPLA observed that continuity of their jobs despite repeated protests has given way to mismanagement and external political intervention in the affairs of educational boards.

The meeting criticized the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi for its failure to pay increased remuneration to the college teachers for performing duties at the examination centres.

The meeting urged the governor and chief secretary to ensure provision of safety and security to teachers for holding exams in a transparent and peaceful manner, payment of arrears to the teachers, action against those involved in leakage of question papers and changing the codes of the answer copies. —PPI
