KARACHI, May 8: The preventive collectorate of Customs on Monday seized 1,950 liters of petrol along with other POL products at the RCD Highway. The petroleum products were being smuggled into the city from a neighboring country via Balochistan, a spokesman for the Customs said.
He said that the raid was carried out by the anti-smuggling unit of the preventive collectorate at a passenger bus (LSC-3533). In addition to the petrol, 1800 liters of oil and 430 bottles of foreign liquor were also seized during the raid. A suspect had been arrested and an FIR was lodged in the case, the spokesman added.
In another case, the Customs seized 278kg of charas concealed in a sea food consignment destined for Canada. The exporter was arrested.
