KARACHI, May 8: Four ships carrying containers and general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was on the higher side where nine ships were berthed to unload and load general cargo and containers: They are: Helen to offload vehicles, Yang Jiang He, Kota Jasa, Iran Kordestan, Conti-Harmony and Orient Independence, to unload and load containers, An Ning Jiang and Cont Express to unload and load general cargo and Al-Marwah to offload oil.

Sailing was also active as over a dozen vessels departed including Corin Thaikos, Sinar Bontang, Kota Tampa, Iran Kordestan, Orient Independence, Yang Jiang He, Kota Jasa, Banglar Kakoll, San Jiang Kou, Gusto, Helen, Plemonte and Johar, while Al-Marwah, Conti Harmony, Tai He, Maersk Alabama and MOL Asante are due to sail out on Tuesday.

A total tonnage of 84,524 tons comprising 27,326 tons of export cargo including 3,481 tons of rice and 57,198 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Global Progress, Oma CGM Simba, Kota Tabah and APL Jeddah, to unload and load containers.
