HYDERABAD: Row intensifies between TMO, taluka nazim

HYDERABAD, May 7: Hyderabad (rural) Taluka TMO Fakhir Shakir has said that he is receiving threats from contractors and some hooligans that if he does not sign cheques for bogus bills he will be killed.
He was responding to allegations levelled by Taluka Nazim Khawind Bux Jahejo and other council members at a press conference.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that if any harm came to him, the taluka nazim and his supporters would be held responsible because he was pressurised by the nazim to sign cheques.
He said that some contractors who were favourites of the taluka nazim had prepared forged documents and wanted him to sign cheques of bogus bills.
He said that when he refused to sign the cheques, the taluka nazim and his supporters had turned against him.
He said that the taluka nazim had removed employees from his office.
The TMO said that cases against the taluka nazim, when he was nazim of a union council, were still pending in the anti-corruption department.
He said that he had issued illegal NOC of agricultural land in UC Hatri and approved housing schemes.
He said that Mr Jahejo after becoming taluka nazim wanted to repeat the same exercise in the taluka also which he could not tolerate.
The TMO appealed to the Sindh governor and senior official to take immediate action against the taluka nazim so that development works could be carried out in the rural taluka.
NAZIM: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has taken a serious notice of inefficiency of traffic police.
He directed that the traffic police personnel on duty should be placed under suspension.
On receipt of complaints about traffic jams on main roads and roundabouts, the district nazim paid a surprise visit to Tilak incline, Station road, Chotki Ghitti and Haider chowk on Saturday and expressed total dissatisfaction on performance of traffic police.
Traffic police personnel were found engaged in chit-chat during traffic jams.
He directed the suspension of the traffic police personnel.
Hyderabad DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo issued a warning to the in-charge city traffic section for dereliction of duty.
During his visit to main roads, he ordered suspension of police personnel who were deployed at Lady Differn hospital, St Mary’s school, Koh-i-Noor chowk and other important roundabouts.
He issued strict warning to all traffic sections to streamline the traffic system.
He directed the traffic section in-charge to personally visit different traffic points to check performance of policemen and enforce traffic rules.
