CBR closes its door on visitors: Budget making

ISLAMABAD, May 6: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has restricted entry of visitors into its premises in connection with the preparation of the budget 2006-07.

A circular issued by the CBR said due to heavy engagements of the chairman, members and other senior officers, visitors’ entry has been restricted till the announcement of the budget.

Visitors of the chairman and members of CBR will, however, be allowed subject to the approval of the officers concerned. No officer/staff other than the chairman/members/chiefs are allowed to receive visitors.

Meanwhile, the CBR has appointed chief coordinator, coordinators and deputy coordinators for the revenue budget 2006.

An announcement said member direct taxes Salman Nabi has been appointed chief coordinator; Istataat Ali, chief (DTO) income tax as coordinator; Aftab Ahmad, secretary (assessment) income tax as deputy coordinator.

Chief (C&E) of customs Zulfiqar Ali Shah Kazmi as deputy coordinator and Dr Iftikhar Ahmad, secretary (ST-tariff) as deputy coordinator. The chief HRM Raza Baqir has already been appointed as coordinator for customs and sales tax.
