Shumaila shocks Neelam

PESHAWAR, May 5: Shumaila Tajik shocked NWFP champion Neelam Khan in the final of the women’s singles on the last day of the three-day NWFP table tennis festival on Friday.

Shumaila upset Neelam 3-2 in five sets which lasted for 58 minutes.

In men’s singles final, Omar defeated Rameez 3-2 in a tough fight.

Results:

Shumaila bt Neelam 10-12, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 13-11.

Omar bt Rameez 4-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5.

Girls’ Under-16 final: Zarka bt Asma 11-6, 11-5 and 11-9.

Boys’ Under-16 event: Mohammad Zikria bt Mohammad Ayaz 9-11, 11-8, 11-7 and 11-8.

Special people general event: Nadeem Khan bt Asad 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9.

Special people wheel chair event: Ihsanullah bt Ayaz Khan 11-4, 11-6 and 11-9.—APPs
