KARACHI, May 5: In a major reshuffling on the eve of formal commissioning of 100mgd K-III project, KWSB’s four senior officials were made officers on special duty (OSDs) with immediate effect.

Those who have been made OSDs include DMD (Technical Services) Syed Israr Hussain Zaidi, chief engineer (Tameer-i-Karachi Programme), Fareed Soomro, chief engineer (Zone-I) Khalid Malik and chief engineer (Zone-III), Suleman Chandio.

Another chief engineer, Asoodomal, who was looking after water distribution affairs of Zone-II, has been made chief engineer (Infrastructure and Planning) while chief engineer (bulk water supply), Ali Mohammad Palejo had been given additional charge of pumping stations (Electrical and Mechanical).

Besides, the KWSB’s chief engineer (Projects) and project manager, Mashkoor-ul-Hassan and Misbahuddin Fareed, have been given additional charge of chief engineer (TKP) and project manager (TKP), respectively.

The three superintending engineers who have been posted as chief engineers include Imran Asif as CE (Zone-I); Najm-i-Alam Siddiqui as CE (Zone-II) and Qutubuddin Shaikh as CE (Zone-III).

When the KWSB’s managing director, Brig Iftikhar Haider, was contacted to know the reasons behind reshuffling of such a large number of officers in one go, he said all such transfers and postings have been made purely on the basis of performance and are aimed at improving the KWSB’s working.

Expressing optimism that such developments would yield better results in improving the efficiency of the organisation, he said: “I am sure that the transfers and postings taking place in the KWSB will not only help ensure equal distribution of water in every nook and corner of the city, but will also help enhance the image of the KWSB as a real service-oriented organisation.”

TASK BODY: In another development, the KWSB’s managing director has formed a four-member task force with Israr Zaidi as its convenor for suggesting ways and means to help improve the KWSB’s working as well as plans for providing better facilities to consumers.

The committee whose members include Fareed Soomro (secretary-cum-member), Suleman Chandio and Asoodomal, has also been assigned the task of reviewing the Board’s bye-laws.
