Women workers to get home postings

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 4: The prime minister has approved a decision to solve socio-economic problems and hardships being faced by female government employees by allowing them to be posted at the place of residence of their husbands.

According to an official statement issued here by the ministry of women development, the facility will now be available to working women whether their husbands were employed with the government, private sector or were unemployed.

The detailed instructions have now been issued by the establishment division in consultation with the ministry of women development and shall have a positive effect on working conditions and quality of life of women.

It may be noted that the previous instructions, issued in the years 1998 and 1999 on the issue, were applicable in cases where both husband and wife were government employees.

The latest instructions shall now cover new categories of cases of those female government employees whose husbands are employed in the private sector or are un-employed. Similarly, unmarried female government servants shall be posted at the place of residence of their families/parents.
