PESHAWAR, May 4: NWFP Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Qari Mehmood has said that the government is providing facilities to growers of sugar-beet to boost the crop in the province as climatic conditions were favourable for it.
Talking to a delegation of growers, the minister said prices of the crops were being worked out in consultation with sugar mill owners and soon viable and acceptable rates would be fixed.
The minister assured the delegation that problems of growers regarding malia taxation and subsidy would be taken up with Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and soon a meeting would be convened in this regard.
He said it was the responsibility of the government to look after the interests of farmers as well as mill owners.
He said problems relating to the federal government would be taken up.—PPI
