KARACHI: Cattle-pen owners case

KARACHI, May 4:-A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC), comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Mrs Qaiser Iqbal, on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a constitutional petition filed by cattle pen owners of Surjani Town following filing of a counter affidavit by the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) .

The petitioners maintained that cattle pens were shifted to Surjani town way back in 1985 from city areas to Surjani town and the then KMC promised to provide all facilities besides plots for establishing cattle pens.

Since then neither any allotment orders were given nor any facility was provided. The cattle pen owners have to arrange for themselves water, electricity and other basic amenities besides bearing heavy expenses for security and safety of the cattle, the petitioners maintained. When the petition came up for hearing, EDO Law of CDGK Manzoor Ahmed submitted a counter-affidavit.—APP
