KARACHI: Diagnostic lab set up at KU

KARACHI, May 4: A well-equipped diagnostic and clinical research laboratory costing Rs25 million has recently been established at the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research – International Centre for Chemical Sciences, University of Karachi.

The diagnostic laboratory and clinical research facility, which is now fully functional, is equipped to provide diagnostic services in clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry and immunology, clinical haematology and molecular pathology.

An ICCS statement on Thursday said the laboratory was well-equipped with modern and highly automated analyzers with a team of intensively trained and highly experienced professionals.

The intention of establishing the laboratory is to assist researchers and research institutions by providing high quality diagnostic laboratory testing services on newly developed clinical kits, products and antimicrobial efficacy testing.

The laboratory will also promote skilled manpower development by providing various medical technology and technical training programmes in diagnostic laboratory services.

The diagnostic lab will provide rare test laboratory services that are not generally available at other laboratories in Karachi at affordable costs. The ICCS administration has decided to provide discounts on lab test rates to clinics, physicians, doctors, laboratories, hospitals and medical centres.—PPI
