Hockey: 61 probables retained

LAHORE, May 2: Sixty-one probables were retained for the next phase of the national camp which is in progress in Peshawar to prepare Pakistan U-21 team for the Junior World Cup hockey 2009. The list was short listed from 167 probables, who were selected after holding trials at five different cities.

Before taking part in the World Cup, Pakistan will also take part in the U-21 Challenge Tournament to be held in Gniezno, Poland, from May 29 to June 4 this year.

The final selection for that event will be made after a two-day trials on May 6 and 7.

Probables:

Goalkeepers: Imran Shah, Waqas Hussain, Imran Butt, Ibrar Ahmad, Waqas Liaqat, Fahid Afridi, Umair Ali, Adnan Abbasi Zakir, Farhan Atif.

Full-backs: Majid Khan, Khuram Shahzad, Shahzad Aslam, Wasif Siddique, Adnan Hamid, M Atiq, Sheraz Hussain, Ali Akbar, Hazrat Bilal, Shahzad Khurram, Zeeshan.

Half-backs: Farid Ahmad, Kashif Farhan, Adil Rasheed, Zaheer Ahmad, Adnan Jawad, Muhammad Irfan, Aamir Shahzad, Junaid Iqbal, Sibtain Raza, Muhammad Shakeel, Rizwanul Haq, M Zia, Asfand Ali, Muhammad Aqeel Bhatti.

Forwards: Adeel Hussain, Muhammad Imran Khan, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Ramzan, Hasan Akhtar, Abdul Manan, Yasir Dilawar, Irfan Ali Khan, Muhammad Atif, Ali Azlan.
