SAHIWAL, May 2: Police arrested a man on Tuesday who had allegedly slashed his wife’s tongue and broke her arm over a property dispute. The accused, Ahmed Nawaz Khagga, son of ruling PML’s district vice-president Muhammad Nawaz Khagga, had twice escaped from the court on cancellation of his bail.

It has been learnt that police arrested the accused on direction from the President’s Secretariat to Punjab IG.

Reports said Farid Town police On Feb 14, 2006, registered a case against the accused for slashing the tongue of his wife Shazia Shah and fracturing her arm when she refused to transfer her inherited property in Ahmad Nawaz’s name.

Ahmed Nawaz had escaped from the court of additional sessions judge on April 13 last time.
