KARACHI, May 2: At least two students were injured in a clash between activists of the All Pakistan Muttahida (formerly Mohajir) Students Organization (APMSO) and the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at the University of Karachi on Tuesday. According to an official of the varsity, the condition of both the injured was stable and they were being treated at the KU clinic.
Rangers deployed at the varsity resorted to light baton charge to control the students and arrested three of them, he added.
A KU official said that office-bearers of both groups were negotiating with each other at the Rangers Headquarters at KU and hoped that the dispute between both groups would be resolved soon.
It is worth mentioning that an activist of the IJT was killed a couple of weeks back at a local city college, following which the APMSO was renamed and its activists were asked to refrain from working in educational institutes until further orders.—PPI
