KARACHI, May 1: The town nazim of Shah Faisal, Mohammad Imran, has said that more playgrounds would be built in the town in order to promoting sports activities among the youth so that they could use their energies for the betterment of the country and the nation.
He was inspecting the construction works of Taimuria football ground in Shah Faisal Colony Block-5 here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the present administration had completed the construction works in the ground within six months, which was once a deserted place.
The town nazim ordered the parks department to make arrangement for proper grassing and lighting in the ground. He said that a number of development projects would soon begin in the town.
Naib Nazim Ali Akbar, TMO Syed Barkat Ali Rizvi, SE Water and Sewerage Board Saleem Ahmed Siddiqui, UC nazims, naib nazims and others were also present.
BALDIA TOWN: Taking notice of the alleged corruption in the purchase of an electric generator Town Nazim Kamran Akhtar suspended the deputy town officer and assistant town officer of mechanical and engineering department with immediate effect and formed an inquiry committee to probe into the matter. The electric generator costing Rs.0.6million was purchased during the tenure of the former town officer.
According to a release on Monday, the generator was shown in the documents as of Honda Company but in fact it was a China-made used machine worth Rs.0.150 million. After the report of the committee the case would be forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Court.
SADDAR TOWN: The Saddar Town is going to launch a tree-plantation drive in the town to check the environmental pollution posing a threat to human lives.
This was stated by Saddar Town Nazim Mohammad Dilawar while talking to a delegation of Help International Welfare Trust which called on him at his office here on Monday.The town nazim told the delegation that the town administration was taking various steps to curb pollution and in this connection had installed trashcans at Clifton beach.
Besides, a special cleanliness drive is conducted on a weekly basis every Wednesday, while seminars and walks will also be arranged to create awareness among the masses about environmental pollution, he added. Mr Dilawar urged the NGOs to play their due role in this regard.-—PPI
