KARACHI: Six women held during raid

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 1: The police have arrested six women during a six-hour long raid at a house in Gulistan-i-Jauhar for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.

The women, who were brought to the JPMC for medical examination on Monday evening by the police, told the Woman MLO that they had been brought to the city some 12 days back from Gujaranwalla and Lahore, and had been promised a good job.

Police sources said three more girls, who were present at the time of the raid, were missing. Town Investigation Officer, Gulshan, Dr Najeeb initially expressed ignorance over the raid, but later acknowledged that a raid had been carried out by the investigation police of Mubina town.

“I am not fully aware of the case, but trying to ascertain facts”, Dr Najeeb added.

Initially, the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police were reluctant to register an FIR. However, late on Sunday night an FIR was registered at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station on the complaint of a sub-inspector Iqbal of the Mobina Town Investigation wing. According to the FIR, six female sex workers and three men working as their agents have been arrested.
