LAHORE, April 30: Duststorms and scattered drizzle in the plains of Punjab broke the spell of heatwave on Sunday, dropping the maximum temperature from Saturday’s 41 degrees C to 37 degrees C in Lahore. The province had been experiencing hot and dry weather for the past around one week with temperatures soaring to over 40 degrees C in many cities.

On Sunday, duststorms and dust-raising winds in almost entire Punjab cities broke the spell, providing the much needed relief to the people. Except for Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalnagar, the maximum temperature dropped below 40 degrees in all the other cities.

Lahore was lashed by a duststorm on Saturday night and again on Monday having a velocity of 50km and 53km per hour, respectively. Parts of the city received drizzle during the day.

The minimum temperature on Saturday night was 27 degrees C. Humidity was 22 per cent in the morning and 21 per cent in the evening. It remained cloudy to partly cloudy throughout the day. —Staff Reporter
