KARACHI, April 30: Pakistan and Cuba would establish embassies in each others' capitals, said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while speaking as chief guest at the launching of the study titled: Corporate Philanthropy in Pakistan: The Case of Public Listed Companies at the Governor’s House on Saturday night.
Mr Aziz particularly mentioned the contribution of Cuba towards the relief efforts in the wake of the devastating October 8 earthquake last year. He pointed out that Cuba had sent about 2,500 doctors and paramedics to Pakistan for providing medical assistance to victims.
He said he had met many of the Cuban doctors who told him that every group of relief workers, before leaving for Pakistan, had an audience with President Fidel Castro, who told each and every member of the relief teams that they were going to Pakistan as ambassadors of Cuba and that they must make sure that they served people of that country like those of their own country.
“Let's give them a big hand. They (the Cubans) are not here but maybe this feeling of the people will travel to Havana,” the Prime Minister remarked.
Coupled with this, about 65-70 countries and entities were airlifting material from all over the world, he said.—APP
