Pakistani golfers to compete in Malaysia

KARACHI, April 20: Pakistan golfers will feature in the Pan-West Malaysian Amateur Golf Championship at the Penang Golf Resort Malaysia from May 18 to 21, a spokesman of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) said on Thursday.

“We would be finalizing a two-member team within a couple of days,” a member of the selection committee Asad I.A. Khan said.

He said a team comprising an experienced player and one young golfer will be picked for this annual event.

Vaqas Ahmed, Tariq Mahmood, Waseem Rana, brothers Daniyal Jahangir and Aadil Jahangir are among the probables for the championship.

Some of the leading amateur golfers from China, Japan, Philippines, India, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, United Arab Emirates, Cambodia and host Malaysia will be taking part in the four-day competition.

Meanwhile, an annual general meeting will be held at the Rawalpindi Golf Club on Friday at 4.00 pm with PGF president Ishfaq Pervez Kiyani in the chair. —APP
