ISLAMABAD, April 20: Mobile Number Portability System would be implemented in the country by the end of the year, the National Assembly was informed here on Wednesday.

The minister in charge of the cabinet division, replying to a question by Mrs Khalid Mohsin Qureshi, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had reported that pursuant to Clause 6.8 of the Cellular Mobile Policy announced by the government, it had already prepared strategy and roadmap for implementation of the number portability in the country.

The PTA, the National Assembly was informed, intends to promote healthy competition among cellular mobile operators and improved service quality through implementing number portability.
