OKARA, April 20: Two robbers were killed on Wednesday night in an encounter with police near Bhuman Shah, Deepalpur. Reports said that three highwaymen were fleeing after looting passersby on Haveli Bhoman Shah Road by their bike. Sadar SHO Chaudhry Akram along with a heavy police contingent rushed to the spot as soon as he received the message. Later, Deepalpur DSP Mian Abrar Khalil, Basirpur SHO Agha Nasir Mehmood and SI Javid Khan along with reinforcement also reached there. Seeing police on their chase, outlaws opened fire on law enforcers.

The shootout that continued for two hours left two outlaws dead. The dead outlaws were later identified as Ghulam Ahmed alias Gami Wattoo and Habib alias Habibo Dhakoo while their third accomplice, identified as Nasir Ahmad alias Nasri, managed to escape.

The three outlaws were wanted in a number of dacoity, highway robbery and rape cases to police stations of Sadar Haveli Lakkha, Basirpur and Hujra Shah Muqeem.
