KARACHI, April 19: As many as 16 students of madressah were wounded when the roof of their seminary collapsed here on Wednesday in Gulshan Town.

The incident occurred at Zuhar prayers when a portion of their roof caved in when students were offering prayers.

The students were rescued by the people from their neighbourhood and were taken to Liaquat and other hospitals.

The incident occurred in the seminary located in Kernal Colony situated behind Old Sabzi Mandi in Gulshan town.

Six students are still admitted to Liaquat National Hospital while the remaining injured students were discharged after treatment from the hospital.

DIES: A fireman who had suffered burn wounds during a fire- fighting operation in Site last Sunday night succumbed to his wounds at Civil Hospital on Wednesday. Three other firemen Zubair, Aqeel and Azam are under-going treatment at the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital. Deputy Chief Fire officer said Sher Ahmed, 35, breathed his last on Wednesday morning.

A sub-station of an industrial unit close to the Site police station had caught fire on Sunday night, and the firemen from the Site Fire Station had reached the spot and were gearing themselves for the fire-fighting operation when all of a sudden, they were caught by flames.

KILLED: A security guard was killed by unknown persons in Shireen Jinnah Colony on Wednesday.

Zahid Husain, a security guard was called out of his house by some unknown persons on Wednesday morning who later shot him dead near Hamza Chowk.
