Sui landmine blast kills two

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, April 12: Two persons were killed and four others seriously injured in a landmine blast near the Sui area. Sources said that armed tribesmen blew up two gas pipelines in the Loti and Pir Koh gas fields, suspending gas supply to the Sui plant.

Shahmor Bugti, who surrendered last week along with 40 of his companions in Dera Bugti, lost both his legs while two of his guards were killed in a landmine blast in Sui. His four other companions, including one of his cousins, Rind Ali, were also injured in the blast.

“Shahmor Bugti lost both his legs while his cousin, Rind Ali, also received serious injuries,” an official of the Dera Bugti administration said. He said that his condition was critical. Other injured were taken to a hospital in Sui.

Sources said that their vehicle had hit an anti-tank landmine on the road between Dera Bugti and Sui.

Meanwhile, saboteurs planted a home-made bomb at the main gate of the residence of late senator Zamurad Hussain that went off at around 11:45pm. “The blast destroyed the residence’s main gate while a car parked inside the house was damaged,” police said, adding that windowpanes of nearby houses were also smashed.

It was the second explosion near the house of the late senator in the past one and a half month.

According to Bugti tribe’s sources, heavy shelling and rocket firing was reported in armed clashes between security forces and armed tribesmen near Dera Bugti.

They also claimed that at least eight security personnel had been killed in two landmine explosions and armed clashes in Gundoai and Sirlop areas in Dera Bugti tehsil. The incidents were, however, not confirmed by official sources.

There were reports that Mir Usman Bugti, son-in-law of Mir Ahmedan Bugti, who recently migrated to the Dera Bugti area, had gone back to Multan along with his family.
