KARACHI: MQM points finger at extremist group

By Our Reporter

KARACHI April 12: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday accused a “particular extremist group” for the Nishtar Park bomb blast in which a number of innocent lives were lost.

Mr Hussain said: “Such a heinous, shameful and contemptuous act can only be carried out or ordered to be carried out by only those who consider a single word of praise for Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) an act of Bidat and Shirk”.

Mr Hussain maintained that after detailed investigations and in the light of the “pieces of evidence” that came to the fore, it had become clear that the act of bomb blast at Nishtar Park was carried out by a particular extremists group.

“The conspirators behind this heinous intrigue have tried to hit many birds with one stone,” he further said.

Mr Hussain said that it was a matter of record that Sindh Home Minister, government officials and the bomb disposal squad had, after a thorough check, handed over the park to the organizers of Jashan-i-Milad meeting. So there was no possibility that a bomb could have been placed beneath the stage. Moreover had that been the case, it would have caused a big crack in the ground beneath the stage, which was not found there after the explosion. Thus, he said, it further substantiated the veracity of the official claim that the blast was caused by extremist suicide bomber who managed to reach the stage and blew himself up during the prayers to rip apart the stage, thus killing and injuring many Ulema and members of Jamaat–i-Ahle Sunnat and Sunni Tehreek.

In a separate statement issued from Nine Zero, MQM sector in charges openly accused Jamaat-i-Islami for complicity in Tuesday’s blast.

MMA: The provincial president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, MNA Asadullah Bhutto, and Jamaat-i-Islami Sindh Amir Dr Mumtaz Memon strongly condemned the blast and criticised the government for its failure to provide security to citizens.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, they said that the bomb blast was an open act of terrorism. They said that under a conspiracy the country was being pushed to the verge of unsustainability and the government had failed to foil this conspiracy, as well as, providing security to the citizens.

They said that earlier MMA senior leader Allama Hassan Turabi was attacked. They said that some hidden hands had again become operational, but the government had failed to foil their unholy designs.

MMA senior leader Allama Hassan Turabi condemning the blast said that the culprits wanted to harm the unity of the Muslim Ummah. He said that Muslims through restraint could foil such a conspiracy. He demanded an enquiry through a high court judge.

Mairaj Muhammad Khan condemned the Nishtar Park tragedy and urged the government to maintain law and order.

Expressing his sorrow and grief over the loss of innocent lives, he said that it was high time that the government paid serious attention to maintain law and order and bring to book those responsible for this heinous crime and award exemplary punishment to them.

Minhajul Quran: The chief of Tehrik Minhajul Quran, Prof (Dr) Tahirul Qadri, also condemned the blast at Nishter Park and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the deaths and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

JA: Jafferia Alliance also deplored the incident and expressed grief and condolence with the families of the victims.

JA leader Allama Abbas Kumeli termed it a conspiracy to propel sectarian bloodbath and claimed that the incident had exposed false notion of the home department that law and order situation in the province was good.
