SUKKUR: Women allege police excesses

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, April 12: A large number of women staged a protest demonstration in Pano Akil on Wednesday against what they termed highhandedness of the Sadhoja police.

Reports said scores of women belonging to the kutcha villages of Sultan Chachar, Samoon Chachar and Heer Chachar took out a procession and staged a protest demonstration in Pano Akil against the atrocities of the Sadhoja police.

The protesters claimed that police had forcibly taken away eight trolleys loaded with wheat and arrested their men on resistance.

They demanded immediate release of the arrested men and return of the wheat stocks.

POISON: A man died after consuming poisonous food here on Wednesday.

Haji Kamil Kharoos was brought to the Civil Hospital Sukkur late on Tuesday night where he breathed his last on Wednesday morning. Doctors said that the deceased might have consumed some poisonous food, while his relatives suspected that poison was mixed in his food.
