KARACHI April 12: Political parties and religious organizations as well as businessmen of Karachi have condemned the Tuesday blast at Nishtar Park during the Eid Miladun Nabi congregation in which a number of innocent lives were lost.
Former Prime Minister and chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party Benazir Bhutto has condemned the blast and described it as ‘an act of barbarism that no words are strong enough to condemn’.
In a statement issued from Bilawal House on Wednesday, Ms Bhutto said that no religion condoned such barbarism and therefore those who perpetrated this heinous act deserved no mercy or leniency.
“The barbaric incident is the outcome of regime’s policies of directing all its energies to eliminate political opposition while turning a blind eye to the pathetic state of law and order in the country,” said Ms Bhutto, demanding judicial probe into the incident.
She also called for immediate arrest of the perpetrators and the masterminds behind it and severe punishment to them in accordance with the law. Questions like whether the perpetrators of the crime were manipulated by those who had some hidden political agenda must also be answered, she said.
BNP: Balochistan National Party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal condemned the tragic incident of Nishtar Park in which several people including the whole leadership of a religious organization had been killed, saying that it had fully exposed the inefficiency of government agencies and their total failure to perform their duties.
He said that it was pertinent to note that just a few days ago the government had deployed its police force and intelligence agencies in Defence and a siege was laid at his house while criminals were allowed to roam around freely.
Sardar Mengal said that one could not rule out the possibility that the government agencies after creating chaotic conditions in Balochistan and Waziristan, they were now trying to promote anarchy in Sindh to perpetuate their rule.
AALAMI MAJLIS: Aalami Majlis-i-Tahaffuze Khatme Nabuwwat said that blast was the handwork of those elements who were acting on the behest of their foreign masters against Muslim unity.
In a statement issued jointly by Maulana Allah Wasaya, Maulana Mohammad Akram Toofani, Maulana Saeed Ahmad Jalalpuri, Maulana Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, Maulana Qazi Ehsan Ahmad and others said that those who were involved in cartoon controversy were responsible for terrorism.
They claimed that such a situation only be corrected by reining in the Qadianis. They also called for arresting the culprits of this incident.
Leaders of Tahafuze Naamoos-i-Risalalt Committee termed it a conspiracy to turn Pakistan into Afghanistan and Iraq and held the government responsible for failing in its responsibility.
