KARACHI, April 8: Five people, including a woman, were killed in various localities here on Saturday, police said. Zainab Murad, 35, mother of four and a resident of Sector-8 in Orangi Town, was shot at and wounded seriously when she resisted bandits in her house in Pakistan Bazaar.
The bandits made off with cash, jewellery, and other valuables, leaving the woman in a pool of blood. Neighbours sensed foul-play and informed the police.
The woman was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.
Waqar Hussain, 26, a welder and resident of A-Area in Malir, received bullet wounds when he resisted a robbery attempt in Malir-15 late Friday night.
Injured Waqar was taken to JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead.
In Keamari, Haroon Rasheed, 30, an area watchman, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
Area residents who came out of their houses, saw Haroon lying in a pool of blood. They took him to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The MLO said that the deceased sustained two bullets in his chest and face, which proved fatal.
Area police were of the view that the murder could be a result of some old enmity. However, police have registered a case against unidentified assassins on complaint of Mohammad Hussain, the brother of deceased.
Abdul Lateef, 28, a resident of Shah Baig Lane, Lyari, was shot at and injured seriously by unidentified motorcyclists in Chakiwara.
The wounded was taken to Civil Hospital where he breathed his last.
The body, after legal formalities, was handed over to deceased’s relatives.
Police told said the deceased had been affiliated with the notorious Arshad alias Pappu gang and the murder could be an outcome of ‘Lyari gangwar’ which had been going on between two notorious groups and has claimed dozens of lives during the last few years.
Area police were said the murder could be a result of a personal enmity.
Kashif Khan, 25, who had reached metropolis from Kohistan in search of job, was axed to death by unknown killers in Mehran Town in Korangi.
The body was dumped at an isolated place. A passerby spotted the body and informed the police, who shifted it to the JPMC for autopsy. The police could not find motive of the killing or trace killers.
