TIMERGARA, March 30: The government of the NWFP finance department has sanctioned an amount of Rs2.34 million for the Lower Dir district for Education Sector Reform activities during the financial year 2005-06.

Sources in the District Finance Department said that out of this amount, Rs0.28 million had been allocated for quality assurance and higher education, Rs0.14 million for teacher education and resource centre, Rs0.55 million for introduction of technical stream, Rs.0.28 million for revamping of science education, Rs0.82 million for education for all, and Rs0.28 million would be spent on adult literacy.

The source said that out of the total amount of Rs2.34 million, the NWFP government had released the first instalment of Rs274,680 to the Lower Dir district.

The source further said that an amount of Rs1.36 million would be spent on purchasing GI pipes and other material for various villages of the Lower Dir district under the directives of the chief minister, NWFP.
