JUI-F urges govt to regularize old villages

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, March 30: Ulema belonging to the Sindh chapter of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) have called upon the government to stop bulldozing Sindhi villages in Karachi. They said the villages be regularized and provide them with civic amenities and bring them at par with the developed areas.

The meeting held here on Thursday was attended by JUI-F leaders from throughout Sindh, also adopted a resolution.

Maulana Mohammad Saleh and Syed Siraj Ahmed Shah Amroti jointly presided over the meeting, while dozens of speakers including Secretary General of JUI and MMA Sindh, Senator Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro, parliamentary leader of MMA in Sindh Assembly Maulana Umer Sadiq, Qari Sher Afzal and others spoke.

Speaking on the occasion, the ulema said that Sindh was passing through a very difficult phase adding that Sindh was paying over 70 per cent of the revenue to the federation.

They said that non-Sindhis were ruling Sindh where 60 per cent of ministers were non-Sindhis.

They alleged that MQM, on behest of President Musharraf was busy in dividing Sindh into districts, talukas and union councils on lingual basis, thus harming the interests of Sindh.

They further alleged that MQM was busy in demolishing Sindhi villages in Karachi and alleged that national identity cards were being issued to the illegal immigrants and Sindhi youth was being forced to commit suicide owing to unemployment.

They said that a conspiracy was underway for the settlement of non-Sindhis from India through opening of Khokhrapar rail route.
