RAWALPINDI, March 30: A muharar and the duty officer of Westridge police station were booked on Wednesday on charges of illegally detaining two brothers and extorting money from them, police said.
A senior police official said the police were hunting Sub- Inspector Fateh Khan and Muharar (ASI) Mehboob who have been at large since the registration of the case against them.
In a complaint lodged with the DPO Rawalpindi, Mohammad Naeem Shafi alleged that his two sons — Malik Javed and Malik Waqas — were picked up by SI Feteh Khan and detained at the Westridge police station.
Police said Mr Shafi had a monetary dispute with a person who filed a complaint with the police to get the money recovered. As a result, the duty officer, SI Fateh, detained Mr Shafi’s two sons, who were also allegedly forced to sign cheques.
Meanwhile, two robberies were committed while two persons were deprived of their motorbikes in the city on Wednesday, police said.
Raja Hanif Ahmed complained to the Banni police that he was parking his car on Murree Road opposite Rawalpindi General Hospital when four unidentified men pulled up and held him at gunpoint.
The gunmen pushed him into the car and robbed him of Rs33,000 and a cellphone and escaped.
Mohammad Nawaz lodged a similar complaint with the RA Bazaar police, stating that five unidentified men entered his house and looted Rs42,000 in cash and a mobile phone.
Syed Mujahid Saqlain’s motorbike (RIV-4487) was stolen from Saddar while another motorbike (RLA-6038) was taken away from Westridge.
