KARACHI: Ord for health institutions promulgated


KARACHI, March 30: Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Thursday promulgated the Sindh Health Institutions (Establishment and Management) Ordinance-2006, providing for establishment and management of health institutions and constituting boards to run the health institutions in the province.

The ordinance, which has come into force at once, is deemed to have taken effect from November 1, 2005, according to a handout.

It provides that the government may by notification in the official gazette, apply this ordinance to any health institution or teaching hospital functioning immediately before the commencement of this ordinance.

The government may, by notification, establish such number of health institutions as it may deem fit. The health institution shall be a body corporate and the board shall be the principal governing body of a health institution and its administration and management shall vest in the board, which shall consist of chairman, appointed by the chief minister and the official and non-official members.—PPI
