Efficiency, transparency hallmark of privatization

ISLAMABAD, March 30: Transparency and efficiency will remain hallmark of the privatization activity. Chairing the Privatization Commission Board (PCB) meeting here on Thursday, Privatization and Investment Minister Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari said that he would do his best to come up to the expectations of the prime minister who assigned him this responsibility and would try to continue the pace of privatization activity set by his predecessor Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
Paying rich tribute to the services of the former minister, Mr Leghari termed Dr Hafeez Sheikh’s tenure “golden era of privatization” during which the biggest transaction of the country’s privatization history was conducted.
The Privatization Commission Board also formulated certain recommendations regarding various transactions for approval by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization, which is scheduled to meet on Friday (March 31) under the chairmanship of the prime minister.
M. Tahsin Khan Iqbal, Secretary, Privatization Commission, conducted the meeting and welcomed the minister on behalf of the ministry of privatization and investment and Privatization Commission members and staff. The PCB members and senior officials the ministries and departments concerned attended the meeting.
