Spinning unit being set up in Mauritius

ISLAMABAD, March 30: Pakistan is setting up a spinning unit in Mauritius as a joint venture to provide assistance in development of textile industry in that country. This was stated by Minister for Textile Industries Mushtaq Ali Cheema while talking to a trade delegation of Mauritius led by Secretary Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation A. P. Neewoor.

The minister offered that Pakistan’s textile sector was ready to cooperate with Mauritius for upgrading their textile industries as it had good skills in various sectors of textile.

He said that a joint training programme would also be started to provide training to textile workers of both country for upgraduation of textile sector.

The minister urged the delegation that the trade volume between the two countries should be increased as the present volume was very low and Pakistan business community was keen in development of trade ties with Mauritius.

Mauritius foreign secretary said his country was keen in development of its textile sector for which Mauritius needed Pakistan’s cooperation and joint ventures.

He said that his country also needed Pakistan’s skilled workers for their industrial sector as Mauritius had launched three-year development programme for value addition and enhancement of exports.
