Man dies in landmine explosion

QUETTA, March 29: A villager was killed when a landmine exploded in Dera Murad Jamali on Wednesday, while rocket attacks and clashes continued in Kohlu and Dera Bugti.

According to official sources, the villager had stepped on the landmine along the bank of Rabi Canal in Dera Murad Jamali.

The sources said heavy fighting had taken place between security forces and tribesmen in Sangsilla area near Dera Bugti, in which both sides used heavy weapons. Dera Bugti District Nazim Kazim Bugti claimed that three children and two women were killed when their mud house came under heavy firing.

The sources said tribesmen had fired at least seven rockets on checkpoints of the Frontier Corps in Talango area of Kohlu district. In Neligh area near Dera Bugti, tribesmen fired six rockets on an FC checkpoint. All the rockets landed away from the checkpoints.

In Bolan district, two rockets were fired in Khajuri area. Security forces also returned fire. Meanwhile, law-enforcement agencies arrested 11 elders of Marri tribe in Kohlu area.
