MARDAN, March 29: Mardan Ulassi Jirga has demanded that the government should establish a cancer hospital in the district. The jirga made this demand at a meeting, presided over by its organizer Iqbal Khan Hoti.

The meeting also discussed lack of education and health facilities, condition of roads, absence of streetlights and sale of unhygienic food items in the district. It expressed concern over the non-availability of cancer treatment facilities in Mardan.

Participants said majority of the local cancer patients went to Karachi, Lahore and other big cities for treatment.
