BAHAWALPUR, March 28: After rumours of being affected by bird flu, a retired teacher was hospitalised by health officials here on Tuesday.
However, medical report confirmed that he was suffering from some skin disease.
Reports said Abdul Razzaq of Maroof Khan Abbasi locality had fallen ill a few days back.
He approached a skin specialist who advised him prescription for the treatment of what was diagnosed as skin allergy. The symptoms led to the rumours of bird flu.
On receiving information, officials traced Razzaq and admitted him to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
Later, officials of health and livestock departments denied any symptoms of bird flu.
District Officer (health) Dr Zulfiqar Rehmani in a handout claimed that the patient was affected by some skin virus about 20 days ago.
