GUJRANWALA, March 28: An eyewitness to a murder was kidnapped to prevent him from recording his statement in court while the kidnappers also demanded Rs1 million ransom for his release. Mubashar of Chak Gillan, Wazirabad, was an eyewitness to the murder of a woman. The rival party pressed him not to testify in the court. But he reportedly refused to do so. The accused became infuriated and kidnapped him from his outhouse and took away to an undisclosed place.

Later, they phoned his family and demanded Rs1 million ransom for his release.

Wazirabad Saddar police have registered a case.

ROBBERIES: The robbers struck thrice in the city on Tuesday.

Factory foreman Shafqat was on his way after withdrawing Rs200,000 from a bank.

Three robbers intercepted him and snatched the cash at gunpoint.

Three outlaws entered the godown of trader Ashraf and snatched Rs300,000 in cash.

Dr Abdul Quddus was deprived of Rs7,000 in cash and a mobile phone by two robbers.
