Three jihadis held

By Our Correspondent

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, March 28: Three suspected militants were arrested and explosives in their possession seized, officials said here on Tuesday. The suspects, believed to be workers of a jihadi group, were travelling in a pick-up from the South Waziristan Agency to Dera Ismail Khan when they were intercepted by police near the Chashma Right Bank Canal checkpoint.

A search of the vehicle yielded two bags of explosives and a formula to make remote-controlled devices. The explosives included 11 detonators.

The three men, who belong to Karachi, were identified as Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Nazimabad; Suleman Ahmad, a resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal; and Mohammad Danish, a resident of Orangi Town.

During interrogation, the suspects disclosed their pseudo names as Asif, Masaab and Abdullah, respectively, the officials said, adding that they were arrested a couple of days ago. The suspects admitted they worked for a jihadi organisation, the sources said.
