Attitudinal change must to empower women
RAWALPINDI, March 28: Change of attitude in society is imperative for providing social justice to women, and local government institutions can play an important role in this regard. This was stated by the participants of a conference on improvement of women access to justice here on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Consumers Rights Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with the European Commission.
Project manager Amir Ijaz said the CRCP had started a pilot project on an experimental basis and formed women lead groups, consisting 15 ladies belonging to different walks of life, in the union councils of Dhoke Kashmirian, Dhoke Kala Khan, Chak Jalal Din and Girja. These groups are busy in imparting managerial and capacity-building training to women.
By virtue of this training, he added, the women of these union councils had succeeded in forming complaint cells at the union council level as mentioned in the local government ordinance.—A Reporter
