DHAKA, March 28: Bangladesh plans to partly privatize its power industry this year, its biggest sale of government assets and a potential boost for the nation’s tiny $3bn stock market. Stakes of 25 per cent in Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), a bulk transmissions firm, and Dhaka Electric Supply Company (Desco), which distributes power in the capital, will be sold to investors by mid-May, said Muhammad Iqbal Hossain, a spokesman for the government’s power division.—Reuters
