Indian troops kill five in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, March 27: Five militants were shot dead by Indian troops during gunbattles in occupied Kashmir on Monday, a police spokesman said. He said four were killed in three separate gunbattles in the northern district of Kupwara.

A key member of Lashkar-i-Toiba was killed in another shootout in the southern Doda district, he said. The fighting came a day after a soldier and three militants were killed and eight soldiers injured in two ambushes by militants.—AFP
