Drug pusher jailed, fined


CHAKWAL, March 27: District and Sessions Judge Chakwal Syed Ikhlaq Ahmad on Monday awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to a drug pusher and fined him Rs1,000.

In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to serve another one month in jail.

Tahir Ali, a resident of Moti Bazaar, told the court that the police had seized 110gms of charas from him. The court adopted a lenient view due to his confession before the court.

Meanwhile, the local police have seized huge quantity of illicit arms and narcotics during the past two months and arrested two proclaimed offenders. This was stated by District Police Officer Chakwal Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir at a press briefing on Monday.

He said during various raids, the police found a Kalashnikov, 10 rifles, 15 guns, 31 pistols of 30-bore, 11 revolvers, one carbine and a dagger, besides 5kg charas, 255gms heroin and eight bottles of liquor.—Correspondent
